The Child Trafficking Resource Project (CTRP) is part of the Child Trafficking Outreach Initiative at the Coalition to Abolish Slavery and Trafficking (CAST). The Child Trafficking Outreach Initative was created by the Coalition to Abolish Slavery and Trafficking in order to increase identification of child trafficking survivors in the Los Angeles Area. Child trafficking is an under-identified crime in in Los Angeles area as well as throughout the United States.  Although studies show that the trafficking of minors may comprises as much as 30 to 50 percent of all trafficking cases, currently only 13 percent of trafficking cases identified and assisted by the U.S. Government are minors.  CAST’s Child Trafficking Outreach Initiative seeks to address the disparity between the identification of child trafficking and its actual prevalence by providing resources and training on how to identify and serve trafficked minors.

The most likely settings where service providers could encounter a child trafficking victim are: emergency rooms, hospitals, child protective services, state and local juvenile justice departments, domestic violences, centers, youth shelters, churches and religious centers, ethnic community organizations, school counselling services, health service providers, churches, organizations assisting refugees, legal aid agencies, street outreach programs, soup kitchens, homeless shelters, and organizations working with domestic servants or prostitutes.

If you work for any of the above listed organizations or simply feel that your organization should have training on this issue please review the training materials located on the “Identification and Practitioner’s Training Materials” page.   If you would like to request a training or additional resources, please contact stephanie@castla.org.

The Child Trafficking Outreach Initiative is made possible by a generous donation from the Ralph M. Parsons Foundation. For more information please visit: http://www.rmpf.org/
